Blackbox* is an autonomous antigreek antifa group, active in Thessaloniki since spring 2020.

We are a working class group, consisted by people who have a variety of social experiences. We are organized horizontally, without exclusions, and we’ re trying to conquer public space from Xirokrini to Faliro, from center to Neapoli, looking for people like us.

Autonomy is our effort to have a collective interpretation of the world we’ re living, to be independent from political parties, mass media, and any kind of “experts”. It’s our effort to stand against the state, without being ruined.

Antifa is a word describing our multinational companies and our different genders and sexualities, the hatred against police, the hostility to national interests, the working class indiscipline· it’s a fighting position against contemporary fascism and its state-assisted organization.

Antigreek means that antifascism is not an undifferentiated ideology – a master key – but must have a specific form depending on the place and time in which it is located. We avoid criticizing the nationalism of other states, because we don’t want to contribute to the greek state’s foreign policy. We believe that the enemy is our own country, greek (haute and petite) bourgeoisie, (left or right) patriots, greek racists, antisemites, homophobes and misogynists.

* Blackbox's name derives from the synonymous aircraft device, because it records the collective experience in moments of disaster. It has the target to find a compass inside the historical process, to seize a memory “as it flashes up in a moment of danger”.
